NEEDLES & KNITS
WOOL SHOP
Well, the countdown to Christmas has started! We thought you might want to knit a cowl or two for that special someone for Christmas. So here are two free patterns that both knit up very quickly!
Lorri knit this in Gladstone which has terrific yardage. A 100 g ball has approximately 160 meters. This cowl was knit with one ball of Galdstone in Colour 421. The pattern is simple and was knit on 6.5 mm needles 126 stitches. Lorri would suggest that 110 - 120 stitches is probably more than enough but as long as you use an even number of stitches, it will work out beautifully! Pattern: Using 6 or 6.5 mm circular needles, CO an even number of stitches. You can even use 8 mm needles and CO at least 60 stitches. Do not worry about gauge. Join for working in the round, place marker, and work in main pattern until yarn used up. Main Pattern: Multiple of 2 Round 1: knit all stitches Round 2: *k1, p1: rep from *around. Repeat rounds 1 and 2 throughout. Drop into Needles and Knits and see the fantastic selection of yarns. Tove has some beautiful alpacas that knit up into soft, comfy, warm cowls.
